Private Teacher is a unique application that functions as a companion, or even a substitute, to working with a real teacher, splitting your English ability into six categories - listening, reading, speaking, writing, grammar and vocabulary. Private Teacher comes equipped with activities aimed at improving each of these skills, which are rated based on their difficulty level. Inside the program is a number called the gScore, which is a numerical representation of your general English ability, and is calculated as a sum of your ability in all of the six skills. Points in skills are attained by completing activities that target statements that describe various facets of English ability, for example "I can give or seek personal opinions in an informal discussion with friends, agreeing and disagreeing politely." These statements and the difficulty level system are based on the Common European Framework of Reference (the CEFR), which divides English ability into 11 levels - A1 being the elementary level, then A1+ being elementary plus, followed by A2, which is pre-intermediate, and so on - all the way up to C2, which is fluency.
